World Internet Summit

January 24, 2009

World Internet Summit is an Internet Business Event held over 4 days.  It is run worldwide and the next event in Australia is March 12-15, 2009 on the Gold Coast.  A recent attendee overseas fainted during the event when she was handed a very large cheque!!  If you’d like to see why she received it and whether you could be next check it out at World Internet Summit :-)

If  you are an entrepreneur wanting to build your own business(es) online this event is seriously worth attending.  It is run by many of the world’s best internet marketers.  Over 4 days they teach you how to create and market businesses on the internet.

To the best of my knowledge World Internet Summit is also the only event in the world with a Joint Venture Club.  It’s a dedicated section set up for attendees to create deals with each other.  It’s the perfect place to find like-minded people and one attendee created a $1,000,000 deal last year because of the JV opportunity.

Brett McFall is one of the Co-Founders of World Internet Summit.  I have enjoyed watching Brett now on several occasions and I have learnt a lot of quality information from him.  I would recommended him to anyone looking for fast, effective techniques to make money online.

Optimising your site

January 21, 2009

I was thinking yesterday that is was only about 13 years ago that I used a PC at work for the first time.  I was working in a department and I was the only one with a PC at that time.   In the last decade computers have changed how we do business forever and now I cannot imagine personally or professionally my life without email!

The internet era for business is still in it’s early days.  Almost all businesses now see the need for an online presence and yet many do not yet understand the additional value that they could gain financially from the online opportunity, locally and internationally.

After creating a website for your business the next step is to improve it’s performance.  For many businesses this will involve keyword research, site re-design and other e-marketing strategies.

Critical points to keep in mind:

  • The content needs to appeal instantly to your target market, clearly explaining how your product or service is the solution they are looking for.
  • Content should be written to capitalise on the keywords selected for your business.
  • The site needs to rank well so it is easy to find.
  • The site needs to be easy to use, quick to load and easy to navigate.
  • Shopping carts need to easy to use with fast processing.
  • The metrics of the site need to be measured and analysed so that you can tailor the SEO and marketing strategies to improve results as you go.

By testing and measuring different online marketing approaches you can determine quickly what works and what doesn’t.  This enables campaigns to be finetuned as they progress to become increasingly more and more effective.  The more effective the campaign, the more customers you attract, the more sales you can convert.

Attached is a recent article discussing some of the strategies that retailers are actioning to optimise their online performance.  There is a real trend away from flashy image based sites to those that give the customer the information and shopping experience that they are after.  Article: More than a pretty face.

Worldwide over 1.4 billion people are internet users, 21.9% of the population, over 305% growth from 2000-2008.

Oceania (Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific Islands) accounts for only 1.4% of world’s internet usage.

These statistics are from June 30, 2008 as quoted by www.internetworldstats.com.

These figures highlight the rapid growth in internet use and the significant opportunity the internet presents to connect with a massive audience.

How important is it to be online?

January 2, 2009

If you are wondering whether or not you should have an online presence, or whether you should look at ways to improve what you are already doing online – the answer is YES.

Whether you are an established business looking for growth opportunities or an individual looking for additional income streams or to share your voice with the world, the internet is the answer.   The internet is a cost effective way to reach an international marketplace.

The internet provides opportunity for sales and profit unprecedented by any other medium.  The speed at which the internet makes new information available to potential consumers is staggering.

Attached is the Nielsen Global Online Shopping Trends Report from Feb 2008.  Below are some of the highlights from the report.

  • Online sales grew 40% in 2 years.
  • Books, clothing and footwear were the most popular purchases.
  • Online travel sales were increasing.
  • Trust and Word of Mouth were the biggest influencers in store choice.

If you are not yet capitalising on the opportunities the internet can provide you and your business it’s time to get started!
